Oromia is a regional state in Ethiopia and the homeland of the Oromo people.It is bordered by the Somali Region to the east; the Amhara Region, the Afar Region and the Benishangul-Gumuz Region to the north; Dire Dawa to the northeast; the South Sudanese state of Upper Nile, Gambela Region, South West Ethiopia Region, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region and Sidama Region to the west; the Eastern Province of Kenya to the south; as well as Addis Ababa as an enclave surrounded by a Special Zone in its centre and the Harari Region as an enclave surrounded by East Hararghe in its east. Gimbi Woreda Dignified HCB Shelter

Provision of Shelter and CRI to IDP`s in Western Oromia Region,Nekemte


In the year 2022 UNHCR has funded ANE to construct durable shelter for IDPs of Oromia, West Wollega Zone, Gimbi and Nejo woreda. Previously, it was planned to consruct 138 mud wall shelters but by considering the areas topography, soil type, durability of shelter and protection UNHCR and ANE have proposed to change the construction from mud wall to 80 HCB shelter. Due to shortage of budget from UNHCR side the shelters reduced to 40 shelters i.e 20 @ Geba Senbeta and 20 Nejo site. After a joint field visit with UNHCR Country office shelter officer and UNHCR Nekemte team held in the month of February the shelter to be constructed is reduced to 38 shelters i.e. 28 HCB durable shelters and 4 latrines @ Gimbi Woreda, 10 HCB durable shelters and 2 latrines @Nejo woredas of West Wollga zone. And also to distribute CRI`s for 10,000HH`s West Wollega, East Wollega and Kamashi Zone IDP`s. Here Eventhough our agreement is addressing the needs of West and East Wollega, and kamashi zones benficiaries, UNHCR through ANE in collaboration with zonal and woreda Busa Gonofa distributed CRIs for Horro Guduru wollega and West Shewa Zone most vulnerable IDPs. All Activities are completed.


Shelter Construction in Jigjiga & Harerge by ANE

Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) response for conflict affected IDPs located at East and West Wollega Zones, Oromia Region


In 2022, ANE in collaboration with UNOCHA, conducted Capacity Building training, maintaining site level data management and referral mechanisms in East and West Wollega Zones, Oromia Region for 19600 conflict affected IDPs.


Shelter Construction in Jigjiga & Harerge by ANE

Provision of shelter, CRI and WASH assistance to Internally Displaced people in Somali region of Fafan, Sity,Dolo zone, West harerge zone and east Harerge Zone.


The first activity to be implemented by ANE in 2022 budget year was 476 of T- shelter for IDPs retunes in Fanfan and Sity zone of Somali regions and east/ west Hararghi zone of Oromia regions, from this total of 175 Shelter to constructed in Oromia region and a total of 301 shelter in Fanfan and Sity zone of Somali regions. Accordingly in Oromia region ANE constructed 85 shelter for most vulnerable HH in West Hararghi zone (in Borededa woreda Gendelami Site for 50 HH, in Borededa woreda Burkanen site for 2 HH and in Meiso Woreda Weltane site for 33HH) and also as planned ANE distributed shelter construction materials for 90 relocated IDPs /returned IDP HH in West Hararghi zone (in Borededa woreda Gendelami Site for 16 HH, in Borededa woreda Burkanen site for 48 HH and in Meiso Woreda Weltane site for 26HH). Similarly in Somali region ANE constructed 197 shelter for most vulnerable HH in Fafan, Sity and Dolo zones (in Shinela woredafor 50HH, Keberibeya woreda in Durawle Site for 112HH and in Wareder woreda for 35HH) and also in Wareder woreda ANE distributed shelter construction materials for 90 relocated IDPs HH. - The second activity 100 emergency shelter constructed in Oromia Region of Gendelemi site. - The 3rd activity was implemented by was distribution of 10,000 CRI in Somali Region of Fafan , sity, Dolo and Jarer, zone of Somali Region , In Oromia region of East Harerege of Jarso, Meyu, Qumbi, Dader woredas and in west Harerege of Meiso, Tulo, Doba, Golcha, Gemechis, Bordade, Gubaqoricha, Habro, Oda Bultum, Hawi Gudina and Burka Dimtum woredas. - The forth activity was ANE in collaboration with DRA proviedd wash activities like water traking, wash NFI distribution, hygen promotion , Diginity kit distribution, house hold water treatment chemical distribution, rehabilitation of non-functional water schem, capacitatiting wash comite and multipurpose cash activities were done so far in Fedis and Midegatola woredas.


Water scheme rehabilitation @ Gimbi Woreda Tole Site

Lifesaving Emergency WASH Response to the conflict affected vulnerable community & IDP’s in Babo Gambel and Gimbi woredas in West Wollega Zone, Oromia Region


1. Among the construction of water scheme rehabilitation 2 shallow well water scheme rehablitation in Gimbi Woreda completed, 8 Shallow well water scheme rehabiliation completed in Babo Gambel woreda.
2. Roto Instatallations are completed in both Babo Gambel and Gimbi woreda of West Wollega Zone.
3. Distribution WASH NFI and Dignity are completed in both Babo Gambel and Gimbi Woreda
4. WASHCo, Hygiene promoters and GBV training is completed


Shelter Construction in Jigjiga & Harerge by ANE

Provision of shelter and CRI assistance to Internally Displaced people in Somali region of Fafan Zoneand east Harerge Zone.


In 2021, ANE in collaboration with UNHCR, Construted tansitional shelters in Somali Region of Tuliguled woredaa for 130 HH and NFI distribution for 1017 HHs in Somali region of Qoleji, Tuliguled and Kebribeyah woredas. And 180 Transitional shelter was built in East Harerge of Chinaksen, Meyu Muluke and Qumbi woredas.


ANE + GLRA Distributed Food Commodity

Targeted One Health and Emergency Response Project


ANE with GLRA in its emergency response project 300 HHs addressed by distributing food for three conscutive months and restocking goats. In One Health Approach, Home to home TB screening, capacity building trainings for health professionals and communities at large,produce community moblization advocacy billboard .
